Summary of Position This position has responsibilities for teaching College Reading Methods at Ferris State University in Big Rapids or other locations in Michigan. Instruction will focus on providing students with the opportunity to become critical readers by increasing vocabulary, enhancing reading comprehension and recall, and improving reading skills to better prepare for college level reading. Instructors will also teach active reading strategies to help students become more effective readers.
Experience teaching developmental and/or college-level courses is required.
Course will be offered in a face-to-face format. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis.

Required Qualifications

Required Education Master's degree in Reading or Developmental Education or Special Education (with Learning Disabilities endorsement) or related field.

Required Work Experience Experience teaching reading, developmental-level, and/or language arts at the high school and/or post-secondary levels.

Required Licenses and Certifications

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes. Prior teaching experience in higher education. Prior experience in online and blended instruction.
Experience teaching Reading at elementary or secondary levels.
