Associate Director or Sr Associate Director of USFA Operations

Position Summary:
Virginia Tech seeks a highly innovative, experienced, and motivated individual for the position of Associate (or Senior Associate) Director of Operations within the office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid. This position: provides leadership, direction, and supervises staff while managing the day-to-day administration of complex financial aid programs; works closely with the Director and Associate Director of Client Services to design and implement financial aid strategies, policies, and procedures that further the university's goals-ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, and university policies and procedures; and, investigates, proposes, and implements all system enhancements. The position supervises select Administrative Professional (A/P) Faculty and oversees between 11 and 15 full-time staff.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree combined with progressively responsible experience in a highly automated environment in hiring, developing, supervising, and evaluating managerial staff. Demonstrated progressive experience with enterprise student information systems; identifying trends in data; and, implementing data-informed decisions. Capable of successfully maintaining a high level of customer service for existing business functions while exploring new system process designs while navigating within the ever-evolving financial aid delivery landscape. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex federal statutes and regulations. Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment. Demonstrated ability to use data analytics to support and to review business decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or Higher Education plus significant progressive work experience in Scholarship and Financial Aid positions at four-year public universities with enrollment that exceeds 15,000 students. Demonstrated leadership and administration of federal and state financial aid programs at a college or university. Working knowledge and understanding of contemporary best practices in financial aid management especially as it relates to Banner processes. Extensive experience with the financial aid module of the Banner student system. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Demonstrated employment history of working collaboratively with academic and administrative areas as well as understanding of technological infrastructure of financial aid processes. Experience leading and conducting operations and business process reviews and developing process evaluation. Comprehensive knowledge of federal Title IV financial aid programs and previous financial aid administration experience. Strong command of COD , CPS , NSLDS , and financial aid processing systems. Demonstrated experience with SQL .
