Housekeeping Worker, Moss Arts Center

Position Summary:
Housekeeping Workers maintain cleanliness of the Moss Arts Center building and grounds and assure an aesthetically pleasing, clean, sanitary, and safe environment in a variety of spaces including lobbies, theater and other public event areas, performance support areas, restrooms, offices, classrooms, and research studios. They provide routine and urgent-need services before, during, and after events and must commit to an irregular shift schedule. Housekeeping Workers also assist with building security and maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide housekeeping services for the Moss Arts Center to assure an aesthetically pleasing, clean, sanitary, and safe environment; adhere to high standards of housekeeping in all areas including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, performance venues, dressing rooms and showers, offices, classrooms, research studios, and grounds.
- Adhere to duties lists that include, but are not limited to, tasks such as floor cleaning, dusting, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, window cleaning, gathering and removing trash, leaf blowing, and snow and ice removal from steps and sidewalks.
- Operate and maintain powered and manual equipment.
- Support urgent and situation-specific housekeeping needs.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of all health and safety regulations and procedures pertaining to custodial operations; follow university and OSHA health and safety rules, procedures and standards.
- Attend to unsafe conditions such as mopping up spills and responding to calls for cleanup of body fluids in accordance with the OSHA standard for exposure control to blood borne pathogens.
- Attend and complete required safety training per university requirements.
- Wear, use, and maintain proper personal protective equipment.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents of suspicious activity or persons.
- Open and unlock and/or close and lock the facility as scheduled.
- Provide punctual and reliable housekeeping services before, during and after events as scheduled, including irregular shifts that may include nights, days, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Move furniture in preparation and breakdown of events.
- Monitor lobbies and service restrooms during events; ensuring the highest level of cleanliness, patron satisfaction and event success.
- Use proper supplies to perform daily responsibilities and report when additional supplies are needed.
- Inspect facility/grounds and report any needed repairs, damages, lights out, etc.
- Assist with minor repairs such as painting, light bulb changes, and ceiling tile replacement.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience with commercial/industrial cleaning methods and safety.
- Working knowledge of safe and efficient operation of electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
- Ability and willingness to work an irregular schedule that may include evenings, mornings, weekends, and weekdays to accommodate event schedules.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to have positive interpersonal interaction with a variety of clientele.
- Ability to preform daily activities requiring continual physical exertion, including climbing stairs, safely moving and handling items weighing up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, reaching (including above the head), pushing/pulling, performing repetitive motions, twisting, shoveling snow, walking and standing extensively.
- Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions and to work from heights, including ladders and aerial lifts.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience safely and efficiently operating electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
- Housekeeping experience working at a university or college, or experience in an institutional or commercial cleaning environment such as hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, or similar.
- Knowledge of theatre and event operations.
