The College of Agriculture is seeking a visionary leader as Assistant Dean and Director of Global Programs to provide creative leadership to strengthen its international programs in instruction, research, and Extension/outreach. This position is open to candidates interested in tenure-track or non-tenure track appointment.

Auburn University College of Agriculture has a long history of international engagement. The college is comprised of eight academic departments and is part of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station ( AAES ). The college is also associated with four other AAES -supported colleges, six AAES interdisciplinary research centers/institutes, and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System ( ACES ). All the academic departments and associated entities are actively involved in international education, research and outreach programs. The college has identified increased international engagement as a major goal in its new Strategic Plan. Responsibilities: The Assistant Dean and Director of Global Programs reports to the Dean of College of Agriculture and Director of AAES , and is responsible for coordinating and leading international programs in the College of Agriculture and the AAES . This position will work with the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Heads/Chairs, Center/Institute Directors, ACES , faculty and other AAES colleges to provide support for all international activities and promote opportunities for international program development. The successful candidate will have a broad vision for enhancing international engagement and work closely with all units to develop and enhance the international aspects of their programs, including internationalization of academic curricula, developing/strengthening study abroad programs, and expanding international research and outreach programs. This position will also facilitate international articulation agreements (i.e., 3+2, 3+1 and related programs) and represent the college/ AAES while interacting with other AU central offices such as Office of International Programs ( OIP ). The Assistant Dean and Director of Global Programs will work to foster faculty interest, capabilities, and recognition for international work; promote faculty collaboration across disciplines and development of multi-disciplinary teams to proactively develop proposals and seek funding opportunities; and facilitate new initiatives. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work with faculty, national and international agencies, private foundations and industry to obtain extramural funding for international engagement. The position may require significant international travel to visit international partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications: Depending upon experience, qualifications and interest, the successful candidate may be appointed to either a tenure-track (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor) or non-tenure track position. Desired qualifications for tenure-track appointment include a PhD degree in an area related to agriculture, food, or natural resources, demonstrated interest in international programming, and a record of scholarship to merit appointment as a tenure-track faculty in one of the eight departments of the college.

Desired Qualifications

Desired qualifications for non-tenure track appointment include a Master's degree in an area related to agriculture, food, or natural resources, demonstrated interest in international programming, and a track record in international program development/project management or work experience with international agencies or organizations. Demonstrated leadership, commitment to diversity, and the ability to interpret and administer policies and procedures in a fair and equitable manner are essential. The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. The candidate selected for the position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
