Video Producer


Title: Video Producer

Job Summary:

St. John's seeks a highly creative individual to tell the story of our University through digital video. A team player that is able to plan, produce and publish a variety of content representing St. John's to our internal and external constituencies, including current students, prospective students, alumni, and the press. The video producer will create rich multimedia content for the web and social outlets using a variety of storytelling tools including video, sound, graphic and animation. The producer will also provide on-site coverage for a robust calendar of University events, including those that occur at night and on weekends.

This position develops and maintains video projects that will be used across all University digital properties, including social media and the website and will be proactive about suggesting new projects, introducing new technologies, and creating content that supports the University's strategic goals. The Video Producer would be responsible for working with digital team on scheduling, shooting, and editing new content as it is conceived.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years' experience in conceptualizing and producing video and multimedia projects
  • Proficiency in digital film-making, including pre-production, planning, lighting, audio and editing, journalism and storytelling capabilities.
  • Ability to quickly create short-form video content for deployment on social media.
  • Demonstrated experience with audio/video editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Audition, Apple Motion, etc.
  • Commitment to and sensitivity to the mission and the role of higher education in society
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently while exercising appropriate judgment
  • Experience in higher education desirable and sense of humor a must.
  • Video reel of recent projects.


Knowledge of:

  • Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud including After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Professional lighting set-ups
  • Sony DSLR and HD camera equipment
  • Video compression for various mediums
  • Audio production and editing
  • HTML/CSS
  • Windows/Mac OSX
