Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Career Technical Education, the Work Based Learning Coordinator plans and coordinates the work-based learning system for Career Technical Education and STEM programs at San Diego Mesa College. The coordinator will perform key administrative functions to support the program, working with CTE and STEM faculty and staff, the Work Experience Coordinator and the Career Center Director and staff to develop and grow the program and activities to meet the needs of the students, college, and community.

Major Responsibilities:
Collaborates closely with academic departments in supporting the integration between classroom and work-based learning activities. Collaborates closely with the Career Center and Internship Coordinator to support the development of CTE and STEM internships. Collaborates closely with the Work Experience Coordinator to support CTE and STEM Work Experience. Serve as a liaison between the college and employers regarding administrative and operating requirements for the work-based learning program for CTE and STEM. Responsible for relationship building with employers to develop student work-based learning opportunities for CTE and STEM. Implement work based learning activities such as guest lectures, industry tours and job shadowing. Provide mentoring and training for CTE and STEM faculty, administrators and staff regarding work-based learning activities. Develop and implement marketing plan for CTE and STEM work-based learning opportunities. Develop marketing strategies for targeted industries and student populations. Participate in campus resources days, career fairs and other outreach activities. Utilize technology to promote work-based learning and maintain work-based learning website and social media platforms. Process work-based learning paperwork and maintain records and documentation in compliance with state regulations. Interact and coordinate with the campus-based researcher and district to meet institutional reporting requirements. Develop assessment instruments/tools to collect, monitor and record work-based activities and program data, including student, faculty and employer contacts. Network with work-based learning organizations at the college, in the state, and at industry levels. Participate in professional development training. Maintain currency in software applications, assessment tools, and methods to best meet the mission of the program. Participate in special projects and committees as a representative of the program. Work in conjunction with other district coordinators to develop and support the work-based learning program. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for an instructor or coordinator of general or occupational work experience education, as defined in Section 55252, shall be the minimum qualifications in any discipline in which work experience may be provided at the college where the instructor or coordinator is employed.Per the current Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators inCalifornia Community Colleges Handbook a Masters degree is required. CCR 53416NOTE: All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions, unless otherwise specified.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with implementing high-impact Work Based Learning activities. Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with employers. Experience creating and sustaining effective working relationships with campus employees. Experience with implementing principles and methods of marketing, electronic marketing and program promotion. Experience is developing programing/activities that include intentional equity practices. Knowledge of job market salaries, occupational trends, workforce demographics and analysis. Knowledge of career development processes. Knowledge of Career Technical Education programs and curriculum. Knowledge of STEM programs and curriculum. Ability to effectively analyze data and utilize the tools necessary to do so. Ability to keep accurate records, with attention to detail including budgeting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience with presentation development and delivery. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,754.92 $7,754.42) per month based on the current AFT COLLEGE Faculty Tenured-Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).
