Position Summary:
The Department of Psychology in the College of Science at Virginia Tech seeks to hire a Collegiate Faculty member, open rank, who will play a central role in developing and delivering an undergraduate curriculum in Behavioral Decision Science. This new interdisciplinary degree will draw from psychology, economics, neuroscience, statistics, and other disciplines and will be managed by the College's Academy of Integrated Science (https://www.ais.science.vt.edu/). The preferred candidate will have broad training in the study of human decision-making at the individual, group, and/or organizational level. Areas of particular interest include but are not limited to judgment and decision-making, social and organizational behavior, decision-related psychopathology, health and policy, diversity, and changes across development, as well as modern methodological and statistical approaches to each. Expertise in measurement and theory building that will help train students to merge predictive with causal approaches to understanding human decision making is desirable.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in psychology and behavioral decision science. Successful candidates will be able to:
• Make significant contributions to our interdisciplinary undergraduate instruction in behavioral decision science; work closely with undergraduate students, and lead efforts in curriculum enhancements and innovative pedagogy.
• Continue to develop professional capabilities and participate in scholarly activities, including travel to and participation in professional conferences and societies; and participate in department, college, and university service and governance, as well as professional service.
The Department of Psychology offers the B.S. in psychology and has doctoral training areas in clinical science, industrial and organizational psychology, developmental science, and biological psychology (http://www.psyc.vt.edu/). The anticipated start date is August 10, 2018 but may be negotiable.

Required Qualifications:
We seek candidates who have the Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field and who are passionate about interdisciplinary teaching of undergraduate students in an inclusive and integrated environment. Broad training and scholarship related to decision science is required. Experience in curriculum development is required for those seeking appointment at Collegiate Associate Professor or Collegiate Professor ranks.

Preferred Qualifications:
Desirable characteristics include a record of pedagogical achievement and vision, creativity, and leadership skills relevant to instruction and curriculum development.
