About the Position:

The VCCS is seeking to fill the position of Data Analyst and Reporting Coordinator in the Workforce Development Services division. The person in this position will be responsible for data compilation and analysis, as well as report preparation, for various workforce development initiatives, including the FastForward credential program and career coaching programs. The Data Analyst and Reporting Coordinator will work with workforce program directors, additional data analysts, and community college staff to fulfill various reporting needs. Responsibilities will include extracting data from case management and student information systems, matching administrative records across large datasets, facilitating the development and approval of data-sharing agreements, creating reports based on strategic goals and programmatic needs, data cleansing to ensure reporting consistency, reviewing policies and procedures to define data fields, and explaining data implications to stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Considerable knowledge in the utilization of statistical resources, especially in interpreting data and applications for decision-making.
  • Ability to prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for inaccuracies, and adjusting and weighting the data.
  • Ability to plan, research, and analyze; effectively communicate orally and in writing; prepare and conduct training; and independently exercise initiative in preparing and presenting data.
  • Ability to evaluate the statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data in order to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Skill in the use of graphics, personal computers, on-line survey development, and audio-visual presentation techniques.
  • Skill in technical writing.
  • Skill in working with and understanding data across various programs that have different outcomes and delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of design of research projects that apply valid scientific techniques and utilize information obtained from baseline or historical data in order to structure uncompromised and efficient analyses.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Access and in analyzing data using large databases.

 

Preferred:

  • SAS programming experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with a PeopleSoft or another student information system.
  • A graduate degree.
  • Experience with social services, labor market, economic, and educational data.
