SECL Engagement Ambassador Pool

Position Summary:
SECL Engagement Ambassadors are responsible for helping fellow Hokies find their community through involvement with student organizations and campus activities. Engagement Ambassadors also support student leaders as they identify ways to help their organizations thrive at Virginia Tech. The goals of this position are accomplished through social media and targeted communication, peer advising, workshop facilitation, and management of the student organization resource center; The Source.
Primary Responsibilities
• Involvement Advising
- Help students explore involvement
opportunities at Virginia Tech
- Values-based research of student
organizations and campus partners
and initiatives
- Create strategies to increase individual
student involvement
• Leadership Education and Development
- Educate student leaders on how to
manage their student organizations
effectively
- Create and facilitate workshops and
trainings
- Contribute to our resource database
to best support student organizations
• Student Organization Management
- Help student organizations make the
most out their GobblerConnect
membership
- Audit and update registered
organizations on GobblerConnect to
provide a more accurate engagement
experience
- Assess the needs, strengths, and
challenges of student organizations on
campus
• Support The Source
- Provide immaculate customer service
to all visitors and digital inquires
- Work with the team to track general
usage of The Source
- Manage and update our social media
platforms on a regular basis, creating
content, promotions and engagement.
- Utilize your sphere of influence to
increase awareness, visits, and usage
Other Duties
• Answer phones and provide high quality
customer service
• Assist with various administrative tasks
• Work with SECL team on special events
and marketing
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
• Willingness to work independently and
flexibility to work within a team
• Commitment to inclusion, learning, and
innovation
• Strong oral communication and
presentation skills
• Availability for:
- Source Engagement Team ( SET )
retreat Saturday August 18, 2018-
Sunday August 19, 2018
- Bi-weekly SET meetings
• Ability to work Monday-Friday, hours will
vary. Occasional weekends.
• At least 12 credit hours earned at Virginia
Tech
• Availability for Engagement Ambassador
Training

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a professional
environment
• Values student engagement and co-
curricular learning
• Knowledge of and comfortability with
GobblerConnect, Microsoft Office Suite,
and commonly used social media
platforms
• Active membership and in good standing
with an RSO , UCSO , and/or USLP and
general understanding of the student
organization registration process
• At least 12 credit hours earned at Virginia
Tech
