Threat Assessment Coordinator

This position will assist with the administration and management of matters pertaining to the University's Threat Assessment Team ( TAT ). In addition, this position will serve as the police department's liaison for University event planning with responsibility for the coordination of special event management, including planning, scheduling and staffing to facilitate the safe and responsible deployment of police resources.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Considerable knowledge of threat assessment programs and practices. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding students and employee policies and records. Ability to manage projects, including conducting research and report preparation. Strong written and oral communications skills. Ability to develop and make effective presentations to diverse populations. Familiarity with staffing and scheduling.

Education or training

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience working with threat assessment programs. Considerable experience working with sensitive and confidential information. Some experience working in a related field or higher education environment.

Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Master's degree in one of the following areas: psychology, management, human resources, student personnel, higher education administration, public administration, or a related discipline. Considerable experience in a higher education environment. Considerable police or military experience with threat assessment practices. Experience with scheduling, staffing and university event management.

Conditions of Employment
Valid Virginia's driver's license and insurable driving record. Must be able to work a 40 hour work week and travel as required. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.
