The mission of the Laboratory for Nutrition and Vision Research is to discover mechanisms of aging, particularly in the eye, and seek nutritional and other new means to delay age-related debilities such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataract. Compromised vision is the most common debility of the elderly. We are seeking a highly motivated team player to join our studies regarding aging in the eye and seeking nutritional interventions to delay age-related eye diseases such cataracts and retinal degenerations.
Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, conducts a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include performing assays, tissue culture, electrophoresis, and other laboratory techniques. May also record test results, analyze data using basic statistics, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and monitor animal colonies.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in science with up to 1 year laboratory experience.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
Special Schedule Requirements:
May work with and be exposed to hazardous chemicals and materials, human/animal tissue and fluids, radiation.
