Mechanical Technician

Position Summary:
The Bradley Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is seeking applicants for a mechanical technician to assist in the ECE Cleanroom, the MOCVD lab, and the MBE lab. This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of semiconductor processing and characterization equipment and associated support facilities. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- trouble-shooting and repairing semiconductor and crystal growth processing tools (such as MOCVD reactor, MBE system, optical mask aligners, diffusion and oxidation furnaces, acid and solvent wet benches, photolithography chemical benches, metal deposition systems, dielectric deposition systems, dry etching systems, rapid thermal processor);
- maintaining general laboratory facilities (such as mechanical/chemical systems for generating and/or distributing de-ionized water, clean dry air and house nitrogen delivery);
- health and safety associated with these labs;
- operating and maintaining gas and liquid delivery systems, and vacuum systems; and
- stocking and organizing the necessary hardware to facilitate these activities.

Required Qualifications:
-Significant experience working with semiconductor processing equipment in industrial R&D or manufacturing facilities and/or university research laboratories;
-Knowledgeable of related chemical/mechanical safety concerns and methods for mitigating risk;
-Knowledge of vacuum science and must be familiar with hardware used in vacuum systems; such as, vacuum pumps (oil based and dry), vacuum connections (KF, Conflat, ISO ), valves (isolation, throttle), and pressure measurement instruments (Thermocouple, Baratron and Pirani gauges);
-Knowledge of high-purity gas delivery systems and must be familiar with hardware used in such systems; such as vacuum fittings (compression, VCR gasket seal, welded SS), pressure regulators, mass flow controllers, and pressure controllers;
-Experience working with internal facility support personnel to resolve infrastructure issues and the ability to interface with external vendors to resolve equipment problems;
-Basic knowledge of Windows based software and hardware.
-Must be able to safely move and handle items up to 50 lbs. or more.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Associates degree in Engineering Technology (or suitable equivalent degree) or equivalent combination of training and/or work experience;
-Experience working in an industrial or university microelectronics cleanroom environment.
