Position Summary:
The Data Reduction Group at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, which explores Human Factors-related research questions in the field of transportation safety, is currently accepting applications for the part-time position of Data Reductionist. The job involves working in our computer labs to analyze digital video collected in various research projects in order to analyze and document critical event sequences, driver behavior, road conditions, etc. following detailed protocols.

Required Qualifications:
-Documented proficiency in use of computers and standard office applications (word processing, spreadsheets), such as Microsoft office.
-Demonstrated experience with tasks requiring close attention to detail for extended periods of time.
-Experience interpreting and following detailed protocols or procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Prior data entry or detail oriented work experience with documented high level of accuracy.
-Some college coursework strongly preferred.
-Prior coursework in experimental psychology or engineering and/or experience with research involving human subjects preferred.
Due to project schedules and training requirements, preference is given to individuals who are able to continue working for a year or more.
