The Senior Windows System Administrator is responsible for senior level systems administration for Windows servers, both stand-alone and in a VMware Virtual Server environment; Active Directory; application management and administration; system and server configuration management; automation and scripting; patch management; server security; application and systems support; operating system migration; virtualization; server backup; testing; and deployment. The Senior Windows System Administrator provides technical leadership on industry best practices (both process and technical), devises appropriate solutions to manage and secure enterprise fleet of servers in a cost effective manner, and manages a suite of solutions appropriate for a multi-platform environment.
Essential Functions:
- Senior level system administration for: Windows servers, both stand-alone and in a VMware Virtual Server environment; Active Directory; application management and administration; systems and server configuration management; automation and scripting; patch management; server security; operating system migration; virtualization and enterprise storage; server backup; testing; and deployment.
- Design, development, testing, automation, deployment and support of applications and complex systems in a mixed (Windows, Unix, Linux) server environment.
- Project management and implementation for enterprise lifecycle management functions (e.g. software deployment, security enhancement, hardware upgrade, capacity management).
- Documentation, training, research, and mentoring on technical solutions for technology staff to improve efficiency and quality of technology service delivery and support.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience in the technical field required.
- Minimum of 5 or more years experience performing systems administration in a managed enterprise of at least 100 Windows servers. Primary responsibility for at least 5 of the following functions: enterprise lifecycle management, application management and administration; configuration management; automation and scripting; patch management; security management; remote support; asset management; operating system migration; virtualization; server backup; testing; and deployment.
- 3 or more years experience with VMware server virtualization and enterprise storage environments (SAN, NAS).
- 3 or more years experience with Active Directory administration; experiencing integrating AD with enterprise applications.
- Certification in one or more of the following: MCSA, MCSE, MCSM, Intermediate scripting skills (VBScript, Perl, PHP)
