The Simmons School of Library and Information Science is seeking an Assistant Director of Graduate Admission. Under the supervision of the Director of Graduate Admission, the Assistant Director manages Admission operations, pre-matric and post master's certificate applications, and the communication plan for applicants, admitted, and deposited students. The Assistant Director also creates, updates and posts new application iterations, participates in recruitment travel, manages the Alumni Ambassador Program, collects financial documentation for international students, and coordinates I-20 paperwork with the Office of Student Life. In coordination with the Director of Graduate Admission the Assistant Director also reviews applications for admission.

Essential Functions:
Oversee admission operations process. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Oversee communications with applicants in partnership with the Admission Coordinator and Director.
  • Create target lists, campaigns, and communication plans as needed.
  • Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of student workers.
  • Manage the decision letter process: create and send decision letters, enter decisions into Radius.
  • Communicate with admitted and newly deposited students in an effort to positively affect yield rates.
  • Serve as point person for international applicants: collects and submits appropriate financial documentation; process I-20 requests; serve as liaison to international student advisor to ensure registration requirements are met, and communicate new international student information to Student Life at the beginning of each semester.
  • Serve as point of contact for non-degree, pre-matriculated, and post-master's applicants.

Participate In Recruitment Travel and Manage the Alumni Ambassador Program (AAP)
  • Conduct informational interviews for prospective and admitted students.
  • Promote visits by contacting prospective students in advance of trips.
  • Collaborate with other admission offices to represent each other's programs at fairs.
  • Recruit recent graduates to serve as Alumni Ambassadors (e.g. participate in information sessions, graduate school fairs, and to serve as contacts for prospective students.
  • Maintain communications with Ambassadors (e.g. upcoming events and volunteer opportunities).

Oversee Radius's Communication Plan
  • Serve as point person for the creation and implementation of a Radius communication plan for prospects, applicants and admitted students.
  • Team with the Admission Coordinator to create email target lists and campaigns.
  • Work with marketing to create and implement new html email templates, and evaluate campaign success.

Serve as point person for maintaining SLIS admission web pages, updating application iterations, and provides input on all admission publications
  • Oversee website edits by the Admission Coordinator.
  • Update application links on the website.
  • Create and update application iterations annually with input from Admission staff.

Manage the Communication Plan for Incoming Students
  • Communicate new student data for Orientation and registration on behalf of Student Services.
  • Monitor incoming student enrollment to ensure that deposited students are registering for classes.
  • Send deposit confirmations and registration emails on behalf of Student Services.
  • Check to ensure website and orientation links are updated by Student Services.

General shared responsibilities
  • Participate in organization and team-related responsibilities including SLIS and Admissions Annual Retreat(s), Admission staff meetings, Enrollment Management meetings, SLIS Information Sessions, etc.
  • Assist with office email, mail, and phone when necessary.
  • Reviews applications for admission.
  • Support departmental operations as needed (i.e. processing mail, front desk help, mailings, etc.).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Customer service experience in admission and recruitment/enrollment management preferred
