Working Title Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance

Job Summary

Eastern Washington University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance to serve the 14 Division I sports programs housed in the athletic department. This position will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Success. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Performance to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of the Athletic Strength and Conditioning Program. This includes the educational, monitoring and supervisory components. This position will work closely with the other areas of the athletic department including, but not limited to, equipment, sports medicine, and compliance. A successful candidate will also work collaboratively with relevant constituent groups. This position will serve in an advisory role to the Athletic Director in evaluating all aspects of strength and conditioning for all student-athletes and to provide insight into possible improvements that can be made for all.


It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance to inform and educate Athletic Department personnel, student-athletes and support staff regarding all policies and procedures integral to strength and conditioning, insure they have collaborated with the Sports Medicine Staff to thoroughly design a coverage plan and emergency medical procedures for on and off-season conditioning and lifting. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance to seek program input, design the programs by sport and gender, mentor and supervise the assistant and see that the strength and conditioning program is engaged and functioning at a high level.

Travel may be required a minimum of fifteen (15) nights per year for various conferences and athletic events; as required for athletic practices and events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience working in a collegiate strength & conditioning program, or professional sports or a related area.

  • Must possess USAW1 certification.

  • Must possess one of the following certifications: 1.CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), 2.SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified)

  • Need to be First Aid/CPR/AED certified within the first 30 days of employment.

  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a related field

  • Five (5) years of experience working in collegiate strength & conditioning, with a minimum of three at the Division I level.

  • Experience working with a Division I FBS or FCS football program in a strength & conditioning position.

  • Additional strength & speed training certifications (i.e. FMS, ISSN Nutrition, P.E.S. NASM)
