Tech I/II/III, Veterinary (ICU/IMC Technician Supervisor)

**This position is open until filled**

The ICU/IMC Technician Supervisor is a day shift position with monthly rotating weekend duty and alternating holidays. Monday-Thursday 7:00am - 5:00pm; Friday-Sunday 7:00am - 8:00pm. This is a working supervisor position that includes primary patient care responsibility with additional supervisory responsibility. The assignment as a Supervisor carries a $4,000 stipend in addition to base pay.

Administrative and Technical Duties may include but are not limited to the following: primary patient care responsibility for patients admitted to ICU, Intermediate Care and presenting through ER; administration of treatments, advanced nursing procedures, monitoring of critical patients; instruction of veterinary students in clinical skills and procedures, animal care, safe and appropriate restraint, husbandry; inspecting the facilities, equipment, and supplies and observing the health status of animals as well as environmental conditions, temperature, and sanitation; other technical and clinical duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The supervisory portion of the position will include interviewing, hiring, promoting or terminating employees or making recommendations to do so; approving work schedules and leave requests and approving payroll bi-weekly; assigning and reviewing work for quality and compliance with procedures and guidelines; developing performance standards and review individual performance; participating in disciplinary actions; provide technical and administrative assistance and counseling; identify training needs of employees and make recommendations to meet those needs; coaching, motivating and mentoring employees.

Minimum Qualifications
Entry into applicant pool requires an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain national certification. An active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, or passage of the Veterinary Technical National Exam (VTNE) is required. Must have knowledge of processes, methods and procedures associated with animal care. The salary range for Level I is $25,000 - $41,700.

Level II requires an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain national certification plus two (2) years of experience in Veterinary Technology or in the care and comfort of animals. An active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, or passage of the Veterinary Technical National Exam (VTNE) is required. Must have knowledge of processes, methods and procedures associated with animal care. The salary range for Level II is $28,000 - $46,700.

Level III requires an Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain national certification plus four (4) years of experience in Veterinary Technology or in the care and comfort of animals. An active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, or passage of the Veterinary Technical National Exam (VTNE) is required. Must have knowledge of processes, methods and procedures associated with animal care. The salary range for Level III is $31,300 - $52,100.
