SEARCH EXTENDED :
The successful applicant will join the Department of Curriculum and Teaching and will be expected to (1) teach and advise graduate and undergraduate students in the Early Childhood Education program; (2) develop a strong record of research and publication; (3) secure external funding for research and outreach projects; (4) take an active role in partnerships and outreach with school systems; (5) provide service to the department, institution, schools, and profession; and (6) collaborate with school partners and faculty in other departments in the College of Education and other Colleges at AU. Auburn University's program in Early Childhood Education combines strong theoretical grounding in socio-cultural constructivism across varying contexts, with complementary and extensive field components. Programs emphasize play as the leading context for learning, equitable learning environments for diverse populations, and holistic outcomes for children associated with theory-based, relationship-oriented teaching.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have (1) an earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education or in a related field with at least 30 graduate semester hours in early childhood education; (2) at least two years of successful teaching experience in schools serving children from preschool to grade three; and (3) a record of scholarly work that includes refereed publications and externally funded projects.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants who have (1) successful experience teaching diverse populations of students and/or teaching about issues of equity and diversity; (2) knowledge of NAEYC Early Learning Program Standards and/or NAEYC Professional Preparation Standards and accreditation processes; (3) evidence of effective teaching or mentoring with pre- or in-service teachers; and (4) ability to contribute to cross-disciplinary research programs in priority areas for the College (e.g., STEM education, health disparities).
