Job Description Summary

The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time Tenure-Track or Clinical Track position at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the Food and Fiber Animal Section. The individual selected to join the team of food animal faculty members will provide independent primary clinical care and case management, participate in teaching and service within the Food Animal Section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, provide didactic lectures in the professional curriculum, and participate in graduate student and resident training programs. Tenure-track positions include an expectation of scholarly productivity through independent and/or collaborative research.

Responsibilities: The duties of this position will be divided between clinical responsibilities, didactic lectures in the professional curriculum, and training of graduate students and residents. Clinical responsibilities will include independent, primary case care within the Food Animal Section. Teaching activities will be conducted principally in a clinical setting. The food animal caseload is predominately beef cattle, and includes small ruminants, dairy cattle, camelids and swine.

The percent effort allocation toward clinical responsibilities and teaching, research, outreach and service will be established to meet the incumbent's qualifications and interests and the needs of the Food Animal Section.

The College of Veterinary Medicine is located on the edge of the Auburn University campus in east-central Alabama. Minimum Qualifications

A DVM or equivalent degree and eligibility for veterinary licensure in the State of Alabama is required. The candidate must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills with clients, students and colleagues are expected.

We seek candidates with diplomate status or board eligibility in an appropriate specialty college (American College of Theriogenologists; American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Large Animal; American College of Veterinary Surgeons - Large Animal; or American Board of Veterinary Practitioners - Food Animal Practice, Beef Cattle Practice, or Dairy Practice). An advanced degree and research experience and/or candidates with appropriate practice experience with an emphasis on food and fiber animal practice is highly desired.

Desired Qualifications

Eligibility for obtaining a veterinary license for the State of Georgia is also desired.
