Job Description Summary

The Department of Clinical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Auburn University, is seeking applicants to fill a full-time, non-tenured, 12-month appointment as a Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in small animal internal medicine at the Auburn University Veterinary Referral Center in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This new veterinary referral center will provide veterinary care in support of veterinarians in the Gulf Coast region. The referral center will also participate in the educational mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine, providing continuing education programs for veterinarians and focused clinical instruction to senior veterinary students, interns and residents.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate must be an experienced internist and knowledgeable in the operation of a robust internal medicine service in private practice or academia. Clinical responsibilities will include medical diagnostics and therapeutics of small animal patients and engagement of referring veterinarians. Clinical instruction of participating veterinary students, interns, and residents will be integrated into all aspects of daily operations, including communications to referring veterinarians and clientele. Primary care will not be offered at the referral center.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree and be a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Experience and skill in ultrasonography is desired. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and a high level of self-motivation, and be a team-builder committed to practicing compassionate high quality medicine.
