Job Summary

The Senior Director of Eastern Online and Academic Instruction leads, directs and oversees the Eastern Online department as a collaborative effort with academic disciplines and in accordance with the mission and vision of Eastern Washington University. The position is located on the Cheney, Washington campus and reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost of Outreach & Engagement. This position supervises the Eastern Online and Academic Instruction support teams.


In addition to the direction and management of Eastern Online's academic instruction, this position leads and identifies academic programs for online delivery, assists in the coordination of marketing of online programs, plans and manages online initiatives, and directs academic instructional support and the Learning Management System (LMS).


This position is responsible for insuring the compliance of the University policies and procedures and state and federal mandates related to online course delivery. These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially and efficiently assist students, faculty and staff, under the oversight of the Associate Vice Provost of Outreach and Engagement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field

  • Experience teaching online in higher education

  • Experience in supervision of Online staff

  • Demonstrate leadership management expertise

  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field

  • Experience in faculty training and development

  • Contemporary knowledge of instructional design and online education practices

  • Working knowledge of best practices, Quality Matters, multimedia software and web based instructional systems

  • Experience with and knowledge of current Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
