Command Pilot

Position Summary:
Serves as a Command Pilot for the university's executive jet aircraft providing professional, safe and efficient air transportation for passengers. Subject to being scheduled for duty seven days a week at any time of day. Must be willing and able to respond to on-call situations. Must maintain confidential information. Pilots fly approximately 250 hours annually. Pilots are assigned additional non-flying duties such as safety officer, maintenance officer, training officer, or other.

Required Qualifications:
- Must have a current ATP license.
- Pilot in Command ( PIC ) experience
- 2,500 hours flight time with 200 hours instrument
- 500 multi-engine turbine
- Must possess a current First Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- Demonstrated professionalism in working with confidential and sensitive matters with the utmost discretion and tact.
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- No accidents, incidents, or violations and an excellent safety record are essential.
- Excellent communication, judgement, cockpit management, interpersonal and organizational skills.,
- Ability to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities and anticipating the needs of staff and customers.
- Ability to interact effectively and comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Must meet the requirements set by the Virginia Tech Air Transportation Services Flight Operations Manual.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Citation Excel (CE56XL) or Sovereign (CE680) type rating
- Experience operating in non-towered, non-radar, and mountainous flight areas
- 3,500 hours flight time with 800 hours instrument.
- 800 hours multi-engine turbine, and/or jet.
- Demonstrated experience working with executive management.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree
