Laboratory and Research Specialist

Position Summary:
A part-time research specialist position is available in the Jarome lab investigating epigenetic mechanisms of memory formation in the brain. The lab uses a combination of common rodent behavioral paradigms with a variety of biochemical assays, including but not limited to western blotting, RT- PCR , bisulfite sequencing, chromatin immunoprecipitation and CRISPR -dCas9. For this position, the research specialist will be responsible for conducting experiments and analyzing data. Specific responsibilities include animal handling, surgery (stereotaxic) and behavioral training, brain tissue collection and dissection, and performing a variety of biochemical assays as directed by the principal investigator. The successful applicant may be asked to train other lab personnel as needed by the principal investigator and can be involved in manuscript preparation if desired.

Required Qualifications:
Previous laboratory experience; Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, and work independently; Demonstrated organizational skills; Experience with computer use for email, web-based searching, presentation, record keeping and data handling (word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and presentation software experience required.); Ability to work cooperatively with others in the laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. Degree; Experience working with rodents in a laboratory setting and with basic/common molecular biology techniques (pipetting, etc.).
