Manager, Hokie Stone

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Building Trades & Grounds, the Hokie Stone Manager provides management for maintenance, repair and new installation of Hokie Stone building fa ades and site walls including workload planning and overseeing critical Hokie Stone building fa ade inspections. Provides financial planning, design/site review, service contract development/administration, project management, and coordination of related Facilities Department operations. Oversees assigned staff including hiring, training and development, performance management, and discipline. Ensures staff performs duties in a timely manner and in compliance with federal and state law, university policies and procedures, and any associated regulations and guidelines. Ensures full compliance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Higher Education Procurement Guidelines under restructured university authority, and university policies and procedures. Assists in the development and implementation of a Facilities Department branding, marketing, service theme and customer service plan.

Required Qualifications:
- Significant experience with the installation of dimensionally sawn stone and rubble stone on building facades in both cavity and barrier wall configurations.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing scaffold erection.
- Knowledge of City/State Building Codes as they pertain to stone building facade construction.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be detailed oriented, computer proficient, with demonstrated supervisory skills.
- Strong communication skills and a proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects, excellent organizational and delegation skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse organization.
- Must be available twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to provide support during planned events or emergency situations to include being physically on site if deemed necessary.
- Must have annual health and safety medical check.
- Occasional use/wearing of a respirator may be required.
- Ability to safely and frequently move and handle heavy objects weighing 100 pounds or more; maneuver materials up and down stairs; ability to climb and work from elevated workstations such as ladders and scaffolds; and work for long periods of time standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling.
- As situation dictates, must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ).
- This position is designated as "Emergency Personnel".

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Hokie Stone building fa ade construction or repair on the Virginia Tech Campus.
- Related experience in a large, complex organization.
- Previous experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System ( CMMS ) or computerized work order system.
- Experience with State & University procurement policies and procedures.
- Previous experience with efflorescence removal from building fa ades.
