Restaurant Operations Manager

Position Summary:
The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center is seeking a well qualified individual to be the Restaurant Manager for their full service dining establishment, Preston's. This individual will provide leadership to the Preston's service team and uphold the highest standard of hospitality and guest service during the daily operations of Preston's restaurant, the Continental Divide, and room service. They will be responsible for optimizing revenues, controlling costs and maximizing profitability without compromising guest service and operational standards. Responsible for hiring, training, staff development, coaching and supervision of team members, will lead by example and consistently display a positive, professional attitude. A team player, the restaurant manager will interact with multiple departments to accomplish goals, with direction and guidance from the food & beverage director, to whom the position reports.

Required Qualifications:
Restaurant management and service experience; experience with food and beverage cost control and cash handling procedures; knowledge of wines, food, and wine pairing; managerial experience in restaurant and bar/lounge environments; experience with food safety and sanitation requirements; must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, guests and business executives from private industry and the university; must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement and make decisions; strong problem solving skills a must.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with hotel restaurant management and operations as well as wine and bar menu and room service; university/higher education or equivalent experience is a plus.
