Assistant Banquet Manager

Position Summary:
The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center is searching for a well qualified candidate to join our Banquet team as the Assistant Banquet Manager. The successful candidate is responsible for the supervision of employees including schedules and directing banquet service staff according to the event orders. Works with clients and other managers to organize banquet operations to successfully plan and execute banquet service for food functions. Document, implement and maintain high standards of banquet service. Ensures excellent customer service and hospitality at all banquet events. Trains and coaches banquet wait staff, banquet bartenders, and banquet captains. Implements and models positive work standards in the banquet department. Conducts periodic sanitation inspections of food service areas. Assists in conducting beverage & equipment inventories and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Supervisory experience. Experience in customer service including banquets/catering, bar service and inventory controls, and basic cash handling. Working knowledge of common food and beverage products, and menu knowledge. Knowledge of food handling and sanitation requirements in the Food and Beverage industry. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Supervisory experience in a hotel/restaurant environment.
-Banquet/conference center experience.
-Working knowledge of Delphi Space Management Software.
-Working knowledge of Micros or similar POS .
-ServSafe Certification.
