Technical Lead, Admin Computing


Brief Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing technical leadership to system developers, database administrators, and other management information systems staff in the delivery of multiple complex system development projects from design through to release. The Technical Lead will leverage expert knowledge of systems design, analysis, and management to ensure systems are implemented and managed to meet the needs of users and for information resources to remain available, reliable, and secure. S/he must have expert knowledge in data processing and have a commitment to high quality customer service, project management, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Occasional travel is required for training and conferences one to three times per year, three to five days in duration and for meetings with clients at various locations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to all members of Administrative Computing in the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation and testing of computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user of system design specifications.
  • Develop the architecturally significant components of the software system and/or interfaces.
  • Know the status of the developers' work, detect slippage and communicate technical issues/status of projects effectively to Director of Enterprise Solutions.
  • Review code prior to migration to production ensuring that any change to the codebase does not introduce any vulnerability.
  • Recommend training and staff development needs.
  • Evaluate prospective software purchases to ensure they adhere to Marist's technical and security requirements.
  • Serve on committees as assigned by upper management.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required along with three to five years of experience in a higher education environment. This position requires significant knowledge across multiple platforms, processes and architectures.
