Communications and Creative Services Manager

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Continuing and Professional Education ( CPE ), the Communications and Creative Services Manager will plan, coordinate, and implement communications activities for CPE including: targeted communication development; branding; promotion; strategic leveraging of social media; graphic design; websites (development and content management); public information/media relations; editorial services; and university identity compliance. S(he) will function as an integral member of the OIA communicator team, which meets monthly to coordinate communications work and meet the vice president's goals outlined in the vice OIA communications plan.
The Communications and Creative Services Manager will supervise a talented and experienced in-house creative services team and will oversee daily operations within the unit. so that work flow continues uninterrupted, teams collaborate, and clients' expectations are met or exceeded. S/he will implement a comprehensive communication plan for CPE , including feature articles and press releases, print collateral, websites, email campaigns, social media, and related tasks.
The dynamic leader selected for this position will have a sound business acumen and will serve as a key resource to the director as a member of the CPE leadership team. S/he will utilize a variety of communications tactics to effectively communicate the vision and impact of CPE programs to key audiences and university stakeholders. S/he will work closely with the CPE program planning team to support the development of multiple programs by providing a communications strategy, message development, and publicity needs to reach enrollment targets.
The Communications and Creative Services Manager will be responsible for generating and managing revenue for work performed by the creative services team in serving CPE programs and Virginia Tech colleges and administrative units. The successful candidate will create a positive, dynamic work environment that engenders creativity, teamwork, diversity, and mutual respect.

Required Qualifications:
•Master's degree in a related field or a Bachelor's degree and significant relevant experience or equivalent professional credential(s).
•Proficiency in using the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, image processing, content management systems, and social media tools.
•Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
•Experience managing multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic revenue-generating environment.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively in various media and to plan, produce, supervise and evaluate written, print and web creative deliverables within established budgets and timeframes.
•Experience working with external media, pitching stories and prepping interviewees.
•Experience supervising and providing creative direction and constructive feedback for staff including writers, graphic designers, and web designers.
•Proven ability to deliver top-quality products and customer experiences within established budgets and timeframes.
•Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with client representatives, accurately assess the needs of the client, and manage customer expectations, approval workflows and client satisfaction.
•Demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of accuracy while adhering to strict deadlines.
•Experience working with traditional media such as television, radio or newspaper as well as non-traditional resources including social media, email and other digital media.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Ability to conduct market research and analyze data.
•Understanding of statistical/enrollment trends and knowledge of current marketing trends relevant to continuing education.
•Ability to create and manage project budgets.
•Knowledge of higher education philosophy, governance, structure, and culture.
•Knowledge of university branding and style compliance.
