Student Organization Coordinator

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Organizations and Leadership Development, the Student Organization Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of purposeful and learning-centered programs and services that guide the various types of student organizations at Virginia Tech. The Student Organization Coordinator will be primarily responsible for management and oversight of our student organization resource center and our student Engagement Ambassadors. Working through the resource center and with our ambassadors, the Student Organization Coordinator will assist organizations with resource building, organization development, and leadership development. Supervision of the Engagement Ambassadors will focus on development of personal and organizational skills for peer-to-peer education and mentorship. The Student Organization Coordinator will also work with team members to create and build programs and opportunities for our students to engage on-campus and thrive at Virginia Tech.

Required Qualifications:
A collaborative and learning-centered professional with a Bachelor's Degree with experience in student affairs or higher education, and/or equivalent related experience. Experience within and/or leading a student organization. Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion. Demonstrated initiative in creating and implementing projects, presentations, and engagement opportunities. Above average communications skills are essential, as well as, a desire to work in a teamwork-focused environment, which includes colleagues, and students. Evening and weekend work required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field. Demonstrated experience in advising student organizations, program creation, working with university policy, and/or leadership development programs. Previous experience working with student organizations and/or leadership development. Proficiency with computer programs including involvement platforms, such as the CollegiateLink platform.
