Overview

This is an exciting time to join Princeton as the university embarks on an ambitious multi-year capital program.

Reporting to a Design and Construction Program Manager in the Office of Design and Construction, the Project Manager will be responsible for multiple design and construction projects of varying sizes and scope focusing on a variety of renovations including classroom and academic spaces, administrative office spaces and other campus functions with budgets ranging from $25K to $10M.

The Project Manager represents the University's interests throughout the design and construction process and is responsible for the coordination of the University's efforts and the communication plan around the project, including users, leadership, stakeholders, and external consultants and builders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage academic and administrative projects from the initial planning phases through closeout. Develop program and project scope for projects in consultation with the user, the Provost's office and others.
  • Engage and manage external consultants for design and documentation phases.
  • Bid and contract for construction services and coordinate and monitor the construction phase. Coordinate user move in, turnover and close out of project.
  • Maintain portfolio reports for work assigned, keeping project information in departmental reporting systems up to date on a regular basis (SharePoint, financial reporting, and project status reporting)
  • Utilize CAD to develop drawings and specifications for construction and for municipal approval with regard to land use, zoning, construction code submissions and other regulating bodies.
  • Perform special projects related to design and construction, such as campus space surveys, campus utilization analysis, communications strategies (signage) and other unique activities.


Qualifications

  • 4-6 years strongly related project management experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency in design and construction processes, design management; experience in project budgeting; ability to interpret construction documents; understanding of building codes and land use ordinances
  • Working knowledge of architectural principles and facility design; knowledge of systems---such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing--and of construction industry practices and procedures.
  • Ability to design and create CAD documentation.
  • Proficiency in the use of electronic systems and conventional software for reporting, work-flow.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as an owner's representative in an institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of classroom design, including functional layouts, lighting, audio-video systems.
  • Bachelors's degree in architecture, engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional registration as an architect is preferred.
