The College of Medicine, Department of Radiology is looking for a Scientific Director of Imaging Research Lab. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide scientific management and technical direction to the UC Radiology Imaging Research Lab for the conduct of research studies.
  • Assume a major role in imaging research projects within the College of Medicine in advanced imaging.
  • Optimize MR protocols, enhance efficient utilization of imaging equipment, provide assistance the radiologists and other physicians using MR equipment in the evaluation of examination efficacy and participation in image quality studies; education of the imaging staff including technologists to ensure the efficient implementation of new sequences, assistance in commissioning of new equipment.
  • Initiate new studies with extramural funding support.
  • Provide support for collaborative imaging research projects within the College of Medicine.
  • Work closely with Vice Chair of Research and MR scientist to build and grow the Imaging Research Lab in Department of Radiology.
  • Collaborate with the Radiology faculty and co-workers in the development of imaging research projects.
  • Supervise fellows, graduate students, and medical students involved in research projects.


Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in physics, biomedical engineering, physiology, experimental/cognitive psychology, neuroscience, computer science.
  • At least 3 years of independent research experience after postdoctoral training.
  • Good communication and writing skills with experience in writing grant proposals and scientific papers and experience in human research studies is requisite.
  • The candidate will be expected to secure independent funding to cover 60% of their salary and research costs effective after the three-year start up period.


Ideal Requirements:
  • Individuals with a strong background in Cancer imaging research or expertise in imaging research in the Neurosciences or Cardiovascular Disease would be preferred but not mandatory.
