Non-Tenure-Track Instructor, Public Relations

The Department of Communications at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a Public Relations faculty position at the rank of Instructor. Candidates should be able to teach Public Relations principles, writing, case studies, management, and campaigns. Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to teach courses involving visual communications, digital social media, and special topics. Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud programs and familiarity with emerging social media trends is a plus and should be specifically noted. The successful candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, or a closely related field. Five or more years of professional public relations experience is preferred. The successful candidate will teach four undergraduate classes per semester and will be expected to mentor students, advise majors and provide service to the university community. An ability and willingness to teach online is a plus. The Department’s Mass Communication program is accredited through the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. The Public Relations concentration has 100-plus undergraduates and is home to UNA PRide, an award-winning PRCA/PRSSA-affiliated student chapter, which was named the Public Relations Council of Alabama’s Student Chapter of the Year in 2015.
