Chairperson, Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Chair beginning fall 2018. The Department of Philosophy (PHIL) offers a broad range of undergraduate courses, serving majors, minors, and the general university student population. The Chair is appointed for a renewable five-year term.

Requirements: Applicants and nominees must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy and currently hold the rank of tenured Full Professor. Administrative leadership experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will provide leadership and facilitate implementation of department and college goals. Additional responsibilities include oversight of the degree programs, mapping out and executing new directions in undergraduate education, budget oversight, development, strategic planning, community service and outreach, as well as interdepartmental and outside collegiate collaborations.
