Summer, Peer Mentor at the Writing Center, Tutors (2)

Job Summary
Duties include acting as writing tutor and academic mentor for students enrolled in summer-term courses and programs. Tutors work with a diversity of student learners in the Skidmore College Writing Center on a walk-in and appointment basis. Tutors assist student writers at any stage in the writing process, from gathering ideas to revising to explaining grammatical issues. Tutors will also support the development of students' study skills, time management, problem-solving, assignment comprehension and overall adjustment to college-level academics. Candidates must be available starting Sunday, July 1 for training, outreach to students, and hosting Writing Center open houses in the evenings during the first week of Summer Session 2. In addition, tutors must be available to work from 6:00-10:00, Sundays through Thursdays from July 8 through August 2 (weeks 2-5 of Summer Session 2).

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a Skidmore student or recent Skidmore graduate. To be eligible for this job, a student must have completed (no exceptions) English 303 Honors, which is offered each fall term. It is preferable, in addition, for the summer tutor to have worked as a Writing Center tutor in the spring term following successful completion of EN303H.
