Temporary Summer Office Assistant

Job Summary
This position will be working with the Administrative Assistant in Residential Life. The job includes answering phone calls from students, parents and other offices that need our assistance, taking detailed messages, organizing files, and completing small tasks for the Res Life staff (ie. posters, spreadsheets, bulletin boards, taking inventory, placing work orders with the facilities dept., etc.).

This position is secondary to the primary summer assistant, so the tasks will vary depending on the work load in the office during that week.The most important event happening during this time frame is the opening of school, so the person in this secondary position will be asked to do additional tasks, such as check campus rooms for move-in ready conditions, assisting with First Year student and parent inquiries, and coordinating the early return of athletes and select student groups for early return to campus.

On-campus housing and meal accommodations will be provided for that week.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma; general computer and office skills.

Preferred Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who have confident phone skills, are comfortable with muti-tasking and who can stay focused in an environment that is often loud and sometimes full of distractions. Knowledge of the campus and the basic role of Residential Life is preferred, as many phone calls are looking for information about the college. The person in this position should be a responsible individual, able to work independently and capable of handling confidential matters.
