Dental Assistant II/III - Pediatric Dentistry, School of Dental Medicine

This job will be a Dental Assistant II or Dental Assistant III, depending on the experience of the candidate.

The Pediatric Dentistry Clinic provides dental treatment for patients through the age of 18. Patients can be treated through the Pediatric Post Graduate Residency Program as well as by 3rd and 4th year dental students who rotate through the clinic throughout the year. The clinic does have the capability of treating patients under oral sedation; nitrous oxide gas; and general anesthesia at two affiliated hospitals.

The dental assistant will assist general dentists and specialty dentists chair side. The individual will greet and escort patients. Individual will take radiographs as instructed by the provider. The individual will set up and break down operatories and clean operatory areas after each patient. In addition, the individual will be responsible for sterilization and maintaining equipment and materials in accordance with OSHA, federal and state guidelines. The individual will also be responsible for stocking all materials needed in the clinic on a daily basis. In addition, the dental assistant will support the front desk operations. The individual will be able to schedule appointments, check in patients, collect and verify patient demographics, retrieve charts, document treatments plans and other tasks in support of office administration.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • Vocational/Technical diploma or Associates degree.
  • 1-3 years experience.
  • Radiology certification required.
  • Working knowledge of dental software.
  • Exhibits knowledge and proficiency with sterile technique and assisting various specialties.
  • Sound knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance in regards to infection control, blood borne pathogens, sterilization and radiology.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in pediatric or family dental office.
