Alternative Transportation Assistant

Position Summary:
The Alternative Transportation Assistant will provide customer service to Alternative Transportation Center patrons, to include instructing patrons in bicycle maintenance and repair, registering bikes for faculty, staff, and students, answering questions about alternative transportation programs offered by the university, as well as assisting visitors with daily visitor parking permits and staffing the customer service desk. The Assistant be responsible for gathering data and preparing basic promotional material and social media content. The Assistant will also be asked to perform similar tasks at various campus and community events, such as student orientation, etc The Assistant will be responsible for light custodial work.

Required Qualifications:
- Bike maintenance and bike mechanics skills
- Strong customer service skills, including the ability to resolve customer issues efficiently and tactfully
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Willingness to learn new computer program
- Ability to complete documentation and paperwork neatly and accurately
- Strong communications skills
- Must be available to work occasional evening and weekend.

Preferred Qualifications:
- The following bike mechanic skills: adjustments, basics of wheel truing, flat tire repair, brake pad replacement, brake cables and housing replacement, shift cables and housing replacement, and adjustment of derailleurs for proper shifting.
