Visiting Assistant Professor - RS

Job Summary
The Political Science Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in American Politics with a specialization in the presidency and Congress. We encourage applications from historically under-represented groups as well as individuals who have experience with diverse student populations. The College is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, research, and/or service.The appointment will begin in fall 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses on American political institutions that will include The United States Presidency, The Politics of Congress, and Introduction to American Politics. The successful candidate will also have the option to teach special topics courses that coincide with teaching or research interests. The teaching load is 3-2. The Department is committed to limiting as much as possible the course preparations of new faculty.

A Ph.D. in Political Science at time of appointment is strongly preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered.

Skidmore is a liberal arts institution of approximately 2,400 students, with 21% students of color, and 248 full-time faculty members, located in upstate New York. Minimum Qualifications
ABD candidates will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Political Science at time of appointment is strongly preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered.
