Development Assistant/ Donor Record Specialist



Description / Job Summary

The Development Assistant provides support to the BCCC Foundation team including the awarding of scholarships to students, receipting of contributions to the Foundation, recording donor gifts in donor data base, with the Raisers Edge software system, maintaining files, preparing correspondence including donor mailings and thank you letters. This position requires functional experience in handling a variety of tasks related to institutional and individual giving to include: event planning, managing relationships with current and prospective donors, and researching ways to bring in additional funds.

This position supports the Director of Development, Foundation Staff and Board with donor research, meeting scheduling and coordination along with the creation of agendas and the preparation of minutes for all Foundation committee and board meetings. The Development Assistant provides customer-oriented, high-quality service to BCCC students, faculty, staff and guests of Baltimore City Community College displaying exceptional organization, professionalism, communication and attention to detail displaying a pleasant, courteous, and professional demeanor.

**Note this role is a 6-month long contract**

Responsibilities/Duties

Responsibilities / Duties: Planning and Organization
  • Implements the Donor Stewardship activities
  • Identifies new prospects and provides prospect research services
  • Designs and implements foundation solicitation programs
  • Composes letters and memoranda for signature.
  • Manages various online and direct mail activities
  • Manages the master donor database system
  • Uses Raisers Edge software to organize and efficiently keep track of information, data, time, and resources.
  • Handles a portfolio of 25 prospects at any given time at the $500 to $1,000 level
  • Plans all meetings and events including arranging catering and reserving facilities.
  • Provides quality service, information, and assistance to employees, students and visitors.
  • Performs varied office support duties as needed.

Excellent written communication. Proofreads all department publications and correspondence.
Reviews formatting for internal consistency.
Ability to read and comprehend policies and procedures pertaining to personnel, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Ability to write routine job-related correspondence.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience maintaining computerized donor records
  • Experience working on multiple task
  • Experience in non-profit arena

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates or higher in related field
  • 3-5 years in Fundraising for a non-profit or higher education institution
