HVAC Install/Repair Tech

To maintain all boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration system and all associated equipment, to its maximum capability at journeyman level. To operate energy management control system in an efficient manner.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Extensive working knowledge of boilers, heating, ventilating and air conditioning operations. Must be able to repair and perform maintenance on institutional type equipment. Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints. Demonstrated ability to solve problems with chillers, boilers, heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.

Special licenses, registration or certification
Valid driver's license and insurable driving record. Successful completion of refrigerant transition and recovery course. Certified Universal type. Journeyman's license required.

None

Level and type of experience
Extensive heating, ventilating and air conditioning, boiler equipment repair and maintenance.

Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Master mechanical license and considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial type HVAC equipment. Heating, air conditioning and/ or boiler trade school.

Conditions of Employment
Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during University closings.
The holder of this position is also subject serving on a schedule to be called back to work during non-work hours. In such an event, this position is required to respond to after-hours calls and will carry an ODU cell phone on a rotational basis. While serving as the after-hours call-back person, the individual must remain available by telephone, text, or pager while off site and respond to any message within fifteen (15) minutes.
Working hours are Monday through Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
