Coordinator for Campus Recreation

Manage the daily operation of the Fitness Center, group fitness, personal training, fitness/wellness programming, Intramural Sports, Club Sports, and Outdoor Adventure programs. The Coordinator actively creates learning environments that empower student employees to create safe, inclusive and accessible recreational opportunities. The primary purpose of this position is to directly interact with students and enhance their academic learning experience outside of the classroom setting.

Salary Grade A09
Essential Functions
1. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, approve payroll, and supervise all student employees within the Campus Recreation programs.
2. Provide leadership and direction for a comprehensive Fitness Center, Intramurals, Club Sports, open gym, and Outdoor Adventure Programs.
3. Develop program budgets, monitor expenses and revenue goals, and identify opportunities for fundraising, sponsorship and grants to support programs and events.
4. Collaborate with campus partners and academic units to develop and implement programs and events to contribute to student success.
5. Develop, plan, and implement long range strategic plans for assessment of student development, learning outcomes, evaluations of programs, services and staff.
6. Provide leadership and support for the College Mascot (Victor E), the cheerleaders, and the dance teams.
7. Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental budget.
8. Maintain records, contract agreements, sports equipment maintenance, and assess for risk management issues.
9. Design and coordinate inclusive programming that excites and encourages student participation from diverse populations.
10. Support College wide initiatives such as Orientation, Taste of Elmhurst, Homecoming, Wellness Fair, Safe Spring Break, and Seniors Week by coordinating appropriate recreation, fitness, and wellness activities.
11. Builds a positive rapport with students, staff, and faculty by maintaining availability, visibility, and collegiality; Collaborate across the Division of Student Affairs and the College to align programming efforts with the goals and plans needed to promote student involvement, student development, and retention.
12. Assist with departmental assessment efforts, including the development of learning outcomes for student employees; collecting Dashboard data on student participation; and using predictive analytic data to inform department initiatives and programming to understand the effects on student development, retention, and success.
13. Maintain professional conduct and ethical behavior at all times.
14. Serves on College and divisional committees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Qualifications include a Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Sports Management, or a related discipline.
2. At least two years of graduate assistant experience in Campus Recreation or one year as a full-time professional.
3. Experience supervising student employees and computer skills appropriate to the position.
4. Proficiency in teambuilding concepts.
5. Knowledge of student development theory, student leadership theory, and an understanding of how fitness centers operate.
6. Must possess strong problem-resolution skills.
7. High professional standards, and be able to motivate and lead.
8. Ability to work with a diverse student population.
9. The Coordinator for Campus Recreation is a full-time administrator.
10. The position requires office hours during the day, and evening and weekend responsibilities.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.

The position requires office hours during the day, and evening and weekend responsibilities.
