Fleet Specialist/Shuttle Driver (Class B CDL) Trainee

Position Summary:
Fleet Services is seeking a full-time restricted Fleet Specialist/Shuttle Driver (Class B CDL ) Trainee to prepare all Fleet Services vehicles to meet customer demand while maintaining established standards of cleanliness. Responsibilities in preparation of vehicles will include but are not limited to: cleaning, inspecting, fueling, providing routine maintenance to vehicles, and moving vehicles to appropriate locations as needed. This position will also require providing transportation for the Board of Visitors and other designated groups in passenger buses and/or 12-passenger vans as scheduled during the week and/or weekends to include daytime and night time hours. The position will pick up/drop off vehicles to/from other repair facilities, assist with custodial duties, snow/frost removal from Fleet Services vehicles and lot, and completing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of routine vehicle cleaning and/or maintenance with the ability to notice and report needed repairs or mechanical problems.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to clean the interior and exterior of vehicles and perform routine vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must have and maintain or be able to obtain and maintain a valid class B or higher CDL license with air brake endorsement within 6 months of hire date.
- Must have or obtain at the point of obtaining CDL a valid DOT medical certification.
- Ability to follow relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation ensuring that passengers follow safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience cleaning and/or fueling vehicles for customer use.
- Experience checking fluids and tire pressure.
- Experience inspecting vehicles or diagnosing mechanical issues.
- Customer service experience
- Experience in the operation of mid-size to large passenger vehicles/equipment or buses.
- Possession of a Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements
- Basic computer skills
