Research Associate-Fixed Term


Position Summary
We seek a research associate to lead/assist in several quantitative fisheries projects involving adaptive management, stock assessment methods, harvest policy analysis, and ecological data analysis. You will assist with the evaluation of stock assessment methods for Great Lakes fisheries, the development of simulation models to evaluate management strategies for Great Lakes and other fisheries, and work closely with stakeholders involved in these fisheries. You will likely also have the opportunity to participate in a structured decision making / adaptive management exercise related to management of Asian carps in the Great Lakes and to explore alternative control strategies for sea lampreys. Interest/experience with engaging agency personnel and stakeholders at the interface of technical analysis and resource management is desired. You may also participate in other QFC activities, including preparation for and delivery of on-line and short-courses on quantitative fisheries methods and participating in consulting projects with QFC supporting partners. Initial appointment is for 1 year with possibility of extension for 18 24 months.

Required Degree
Doctorate -fisheries science or related discipline

Minimum Requirements
Interest/experience with engaging agency personnel and stakeholders at the interface of technical analysis and resource management is desired.

Desired Qualifications
Strong record of research productivity in quantitative methods.
