Assistant Equine Ambulance Driver

Position Summary:
Works directly for the equine ambulance service to assist off-site events supported by the Equine Medical Center. Provides quality care for all equine patients utilizing the ambulance service. Provides shared rotational weekend coverage for the events and coverage as needed to prepare the service for upcoming engagements. Must possess a valid unrestricted motor vehicle license to operate a State owned vehicle in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Required Qualifications:
Current experience handling and working with a variety of sport, pleasure and competition horses. Skills and knowledge to assist with a variety of equine veterinary emergency situations. Working knowledge of equine anatomy and veterinary terminology. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to follow established protocol and procedures. Ability to make decisions and react quickly in order to maintain the safety of patients and personnel. Ability to operate a truck and equine trailer in a safe and efficient manner.
