Position Summary:
The Director of Alumni Relations for College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences will serve as the chief alumni engagement officer in the college. The Director for Alumni Relations will be responsible for planning, developing, promoting, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating alumni engagement programs, projects, and events for the college. The Director will work collaboratively with the members of the college's advancement team to pursue and promote the overall institutional advancement goals related to communication, alumni engagement, and fundraising.
The College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences ( CLAHS ) at Virginia Tech combines the liberal arts' passion for exploration with a land grant institution's sense of civic engagement and the technology of a top-25 public research university. The college is intellectually rich, programmatically diverse, and academically multifaceted. Recognizing that technology alone is never a solution and that innovation is a fundamentally human achievement, programs prepare students to bring perspectives from the arts, humanities, and human and social sciences to understand and achieve meaningful solutions to complex human problems.
The college is comprised of 560 dedicated faculty members, 11 departments, and 2 schools: Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management; Communication; English; Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures; History; Human Development and Family Science; Philosophy; Political Science; Religion and Culture; Science, Technology, and Society; Sociology; the School of Education; and the School of Performing Arts. In addition, CLAHS houses the Reserve Officer Training Corps ( ROTC ) for the Army, Air Force, and Navy and Marines, which harken back to Virginia Tech's roots as a full military college. The college offers more than 1,000 courses across 29 majors and 53 minors, enrolling a total of 4,506 students (3,392 undergraduate, 1,114 graduate) during 2016-2017. There are over 60,000 living alumni from the CLAHS .

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and relevant experience or Master's degree.
- Demonstrated experience in alumni engagement and/or client-relations experience.
- Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement, and build constituency programs and activities.
- Strong computer skills, which should include desktop software and familiarity with databases.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a higher education, independent school, or non-profit environments.
- Demonstrated experience cultivating, managing, and training volunteers and developing volunteer leadership.
