Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching:
Prior effective experience teaching in health systems management and health systems leadership for undergraduate students desired; experience may be with nursing students, non-nursing students, or both populations of students. Ability to teach in this content area across program levels (undergraduate and graduate) is desirable.
Prior clinical experience in a health systems leadership or management role, to be able to relate real world experiences to classroom instruction.
Employs a variety of innovative teaching techniques to promote critical thinking and achieve course outcomes, including but not limited to lecture, experiential and service learning, case studies, project based learning, and simulation based learning.
Teaches courses primarily in the health systems program as assigned; may teach in other programs with in the School of Nursing based on expertise and need.
Exemplifies a clearly developed philosophy of and pedagogy toward teaching, consistent with the values of the University and School of Nursing.
Maintains certification in an area of specialty expertise, if applicable.

Scholarship:
Supports the research/scholarly mission of the School and/or University.
Demonstrates ability to successfully conduct research/scholarly projects, consistent with educational preparation.
Has a defined area of content expertise and interest for scholarly activities.
Disseminates research/scholarship to students through teaching, presentations, and publication of clinically or educationally based journal articles.

Service:
Actively serves as a member of MNSON committees and/or task forces.
Participates in University and SON activities.
Participates in community outreach activities that promote health and improve health systems.
Attends MNSON and University events.
Attends and assists at conferences or workshops involving MNSON or University at local level.
Maintains availability to students for coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications
Licensure in the state of Illinois as a Registered Nurse or Eligible for Illinois RN licensure(s)

Certification in specialty area preferred

Ability to work in a healthcare setting or business environment

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Required qualifications include: Minimum of a master s degree in nursing for the Instructor rank. A doctorate (PhD, DNP , or other professional doctorate) is required for the Assistant Professor rank.
Post-secondary teaching experience commensurate with appointment at the rank of non-tenure track Instructor or higher and commitment to research and scholarly endeavors, consistent with the rank. Content expertise nursing leadership and management is required. Prior experience in a leadership or management position in healthcare is highly desirable, as is prior teaching experience in leadership and management, and experience with simulation based learning.
