POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), to join an interdisciplinary roboat research team in the development of environmental sensing capabilities for autonomous boats that will operate in the canals of Amsterdam. Research will involve using expertise in one or more of the following areas: chemical or biological water quality sensing, underwater remote sensing (particularly for aquatic debris), or other creative applications of urban environmental sensing. The research will be supervised by Professor. Andrew Whittle (CEE Department) and conducted in close collaboration with researchers in the MIT Senseable City Lab, CSAIL and Urban Studies programs.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. degree in the relevant fields of biological, chemical, environmental, mechanical, or electrical engineering or aquatic or computer science. Experience with the design, development, and evaluation of environmental sensors required. Must also present a strong publication record, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and together with members of an interdisciplinary team.
