Equine Field Service Support Technician

Position Summary:
Provides primary technical support for the Equine Field Service, its clinical faculty, residents, interns and senior veterinary students. Assists with farm calls, diagnostic procedures, and the medical management of cases admitted for care to the Hospital. Inventories pharmaceuticals and equipment of each mobile equine veterinary unit daily, ensuring availability and working order. Assists with daily cleaning and maintenance of these units. Provides back-up support for the communications technician and other senior technicians when necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Working knowledge of common equine veterinary pharmaceuticals, products, diagnostic and medical equipment and their application; previous experience working with, handling, and restraining various breeds of horses; good computer skills, excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions; must be able to safely move and handle up to 75 pounds; ability to tolerate Rabies prophylaxis (provided by employer) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in an equine ambulatory veterinary field service oriented environment, previous experience driving a standard shift truck and pulling a gooseneck trailer; previous experience working with, handling, and restraining various breeds of horses, including breeding stallions.
