Program Support Technician

Position Summary:
The School of Education is seeking applicants to fill a half-time (20 hours per week) Program Support Technician staff position. This is a salaried position with retirement and leave benefits only - no health insurance.
The primary responsibility of the Program Support Technician is to provide administrative and clerical support for the School of Education ( SOE ) faculty and administration by serving as one of the main points-of-contact for the SOE office and administrative programs. Specifically, this position provides school support as the point-of-contact for all individuals entering the School of Education's main office, and program support as the point-of-contact for all programs based on questions from the soeprograms@vt.edu email address, which is posted on the web-based program information pages. In addition, this position provides logistical support such as, managing key control, answering phones, and processing surplus property; and provides academic support such as, managing semester-based syllabi, ordering textbooks and desk/exam copies, and scheduling faculty and student meetings and exams.

Required Qualifications:
- Previous administrative or customer service experience.
- Experience such as working with database and spreadsheet programs.
- Knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of university forms.
- Experience with Virginia Tech Banner System.
