Coordinator for Student Activities and Greek Life

This position is responsible for the creation and execution of programs and services that support, challenge, and enhance student engagement through the development and implementation of the College Greek community. The Coordinator will also provide assistance to major campus events such as Orientation, Welcome Week Activities, Taste of Elmhurst, Homecoming, Presidential Ball, Senior Week, and other activities that support the mission and goals of Student Affairs and the College.

Essential Functions
1. Partner with the Associate Dean of Students to provide inclusive programming that excites and encourages student participation, and supports the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs.
2. Oversee the Taste of Elmhurst in the fall and Activity Fair in the spring.
3. Develop, plan, and implement Greek Week.
4. Advise Greek Leadership Council, Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council and Order of Omega, and support Greek student's involvement in national leadership opportunities and conferences.
5. Provide vision and leadership for all aspects of fraternity and sorority life, consisting of seven chapters and approximately 400 members.
6. Provide guidance to chapters particularly in the areas of risk management, membership recruitment and education, problem resolution, and community service/philanthropy.
7. Maintain accurate records of chapter officers, members, chapter and faculty advisors as well as semester reports for scholarship, membership, community service work, and other pertinent statistics for Division of Student Affairs Dashboards.
8. Work collaboratively with Student Activities to foster campus life and student engagement.
9. Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental budget.
10. Establish, disseminate and interpret College policies and procedures as they pertain to the fraternity and sorority community.
11. Work with Greek Leadership Councils to sponsor educational programs/speakers for the Greek community.
12. Support retention and student success initiatives.
13. Direct the coordination of the formal and informal recruitment and membership intake for fraternities and sororities, serves as the primary College liaison for chapter advisors, faculty advisors, alumni and international and national headquarters.
14. Attend appropriate fraternity and sorority events to maintain visibility and approachability.
15. Initiate and/or support educational programming including, but not limited to, drug/alcohol awareness, career preparation, hazing prevention and sexual misconduct (Title IX).
16. Educate and encourage student responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
17. On occasion, serve as a hearing officer for non-Greek related matters (student conduct, Title IX).
18. Maintain professional conduct and ethical behavior at all times.
19. Serve on College and divisional committees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline.
2. At least two years of graduate assistant experience in Greek Life; or one year of professional experience.
3. Membership in a fraternity or sorority is essential. Strong preference is given to individuals who have had direct experience working/advising fraternities/sororities and advising inter-fraternity/sorority councils.
4. Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships, and build consensus and support.
5. Demonstrated experience with and sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to a diverse community.
6. Ability to develop leadership opportunities for students.
7. Capability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and attention to detail.
8. Ability to function within a team environment and collaborate with others.
9. Excellent verbal, written and technological communication skills.
10. Willingness to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends when necessary).
11. Knowledge of student development theory, student leadership theory, and an understanding of current trends in the Greek Life community.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
